  16. - For better battery performance: -
Replace the original boot.img in the update-cm-7.1.0-Z71-signed.zip with the boot.img from CM7 EAv6 (http://boston-mania.blogspot.com/2011/10/rom-237-cyanogenmod-7-ea-v6-zip.html) and flash the .zip-file from recovery-mode.
WIFI works great, no orientation problems so far and the battery lasts for about 48 hours.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @TaHawK
there is nothing to share nor secret to reveal. All the answer is here. I learn all about rom, kernel, and flashing my fone by reading all the comment here.
    @Hario
try master reset, and also make sure before ur update ur fone,ur network is ok. usually before i update to any custom rom, i will downgrade my fone with a original rom,in case i wanna flash this rom,i will flash cm7 using nbo file then factory reset at recovery and update it using zip.after that, i i flash the recommended kernel and reboot my fone after reset my fone once again.after reboot,i go to recovery again to update my gapps.thats all i do.

    .

  22. Somebody (other then Michi) tired the boot.img from the other version ? Have any change in the battery life ?

  24. Freaks out horribly while charging then there's no fixing (downloaded from clockworkmod maybe that's why...) went from 6.1.2 which was running great but not up to date. Checked in "about phone" and it says i have the correct kernel I think I'm missing something.... Advice please please please :,( and thanx in advance

    ReplyDelete
  25. Never mind completely cleared absolutely everything off of my phone and SD and then downloaded kernel update zip provided by Zlenka's link downloaded the update from here took Terry's advice and installed 7.1 then kernel update THEN REBOOTED SYSTEM (those caps are directed to myself because I'm an idiot for trying to install it the ultra lazy way from rom manager) then rebooted into recovery, moved galls to SD and install.... pheasant man that was a big run on sentance, but I am proud to say that I am writing this from my plugged in finally fully functional 16g SD Cincinnati bell blaze.... hands down better than stock OS

@zlenka and @Terry, you guys are my hero's for dumbyfying the installation process for me on the actual update blog for once!! Words cannot express my grattitude. :) kudos my friends

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lol PS darn you auto dictionary... sorry about the typos

    ReplyDelete
  27. thanks terry,, it works. i flash the original eclair (.nb0) and then flash the CM7 using clockwork recovery and now everything is fine :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. So far this is turning out to be the best 2.3 CM ROM that I have used. This also feels better than the OSR ROM. No lag or freezes or frequent force close. I had faced problem with wifi sometimes where I could not browse even with wifi status as connected. The single color will be white and not turned green. "Sometimes" not working wifi is still better than OSR "frequent" wifi disconnections.
Here is the path I have chosen:
    Moto XT5 -
    1) Flash CM 7.0.2.nb0 stable (with erase user data)
    2) Flash CM EAv6 from recovery
    3) Flash CM 7.1.0 from recovery
I did not format Memory card. I installed the apps manually again instead of restoring it via Titanium backup. I had always seen phone getting slowed down after installing app+data via Titanium backup. That may be applicable for my phone hence tried something new :-). I will keep on updating if I find out new issues.

  29. I'm still on Firetrap TwoNights 2.2.1 on my Spice Mi300

What should be the preferred way to try this out?

And can I rollback to the previous state(even without the installed apps) if I have the old .nb0 file?

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Subhranath Chunder
From ur firetrap, using nbo file, update into any cm7 build.then using recovery, update to cm7.1 followed with kernel from zlenka, factory reset ur fone in recovery, then reboot. of course u can.but do it carefully.
    @Hario & LzCarp
    Glad i could help ;)
    @vishal
i already try ur way,but my mi300 will go crazy but if it works with other, its worth trying, thanks 4 sharing

Just put the kernel.zip on your SD card, boot into recovery mode, and flash the kernel.zip like you did it with your update-cm-7.1.0-Z71-signed.zip and reboot.

  36. it seems, that in this rom is still problem with signal. I can´t search network provider (orange, t-mobile, o2 etc in country, it gives me error, if i try to search mobile providers (networks). And quality of signal is still the same, what is not normal, ´coz i know, that before I didn´t have all the time the same quality.

  38. vasile, what does it mean? I don´t know russian language, or what language it is. If google translate these sentences good, does it mean, that I have to update to PJ kernel?? And then will wifi and signal (network searching) work normal??

  39. is indonezian language!
you can write in english and ask PJ what you whant to know!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. @terry, hi i'm a newby. it seems that u often use phantom some time ago. can u give links for rom n other things (like updater or kernel) please? n how about cm7, is it better than phantom?
tq b4, n sorry for my bad english :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. @peter
you need to flash an .nb0 cm7 files
    to get network!
    what rom you have before?

    ReplyDelete
  42. before I had CML Eclair 2.1 full ROM. I installed via SUT this rom (CyanogenMOD 7.1 STABLE) and I have problem with network. If i try function "find networks", it gives problem, that "unsuccesfull", and still shows me full signal, what is not truth too. What i need flash, vasile?? And where i find it?? I don´t know, what you are thinking. Thanks for answer.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Peter
    try an "master reset"(red+camera+power)
reboot and if the problem persist put with sut.lr any other rom in .nb0 format
can try Phantom, Apanda, my cm7 posted up just for check the problem with network
If the problem is not solved go to service
could by a problem with hardware not software!

    ReplyDelete
  44. with other ROM it works perfectly, normal, phone fins network providers in our country. It means that it is not problem with hardware. I tried master reset, but in this rom - Cyanogen 7.1, there is still problem with network. ´Coz of i use phone not only in my country, but i travel to foreign country and I need automatical finding network, this rom is not good for me, if they don´t repair this problem. I read in other forums, that cyanogen has problem with radio (wifi, gms/3g network with find provider). I hope, they will repair it, ´coz of this rom is very wonderfull for me and I like it for possibilities, but it is a pitty that there is problem with network. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  45. @nando eriawan.
if u wanna rom for phantom, juz go to may archive.
bout comparison between cm7 and phantom,of course cm7 is the winner,2.3.7versus2.2?!

for me,phantom rom my 'hometown',sometimes i got tired of flashing mew 2.3v,i juz return back to my 'hometown' coz compare bout stability, phantom is the best.

anyway, 4 now,why don u try this cm7.1 rom? if ur fone still stock, juz download any cm 7 build .nbo and install it using sutlr, which also u can find here or juz search on google.and download cm7.1 zip and update using cwm recovery.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @peter
kinda wierd coz i can easily switch other network provider witout any error, anyway,u re saying u flash using nbo cm7.1why dont u try flash cm7 any build first using nbo and update using zip and kernel provided here using recovery, but reset ur fone before n after flashing.maybe its works

if still not fix,juz bring the zip in sd and when u wanna change network, replace card any flash again using recovery, kinda weird move ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. whops,sorry@nando eriawan, u're saying ur a newbie,which mean u never flash a rom before?
if u re using stock rom and wanna change it,get a sutlr and ur fone usb driver first and installed to pc.u can google it all.(for some reason i cant upload or provide link for a while, really sorry for that)
root ur fone first.use superoneclick or universal androot.download rom manager and update ur recovery using it,then backup ur stock rom in recovery
if u wanna use phantom rom,juz download the nbo file and flash using sutlr with erase user data selected and master reset ur fone to reset the battery stat(red+cam+power).ignore any failure occur on sutlr after flashing(if any)

if u wanna use this rom,juz download any cm7 build provided here (nbo preffered) and download cm 7.1 stable.zip and kernel provided by zlenka n put it in ur sdcard.

1)flash ur fone using sutlr (any cm7 build.nbo) juz ignore the error.
2)enter recovery by cam+up+power and reset ur fone here, pick install zip from sd n pick the cm7.1.zip and ok
3)wait 4 completion, after that, again pick zip from sd n select the kernel and ok.
    4)factory reset ur fone n reboot.thats all
(actually i dont really know how to teach others, got question juz ask here and i will do my best to help)
    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  48. actually, I'm just using sutrl methode yet n not knowing other method. and thanks for the steps. for d links, I mean what version phantom that good and stable?

    ReplyDelete
  49. @terry
mantabb gan, thanks 4 the help. although i dont know what the kernel for, cuz my touch screen is work well. n my fon is so easy overheating, is it okay for my fone?

    ReplyDelete
  50. @vasile,

I am Indonesian. The droidsans site is in Thai language. Our Indonesian notorious ROM developer is tj_style. Unfortunately, he is currently busy with ROM for Z71 little brother.

Btw, I am just curious, how do you make the nb0? Did you unpack the nb0, replace the necessary file, pack the nb0 again? I know there is a tool to unpack and repack nb0.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Test
    sorry for mistake language!
and yes I unpack an nb0
made the system, boot and recovery.img on my phone via backup
    replace and rename the files
repack in .nb0 and thats it!
    .nb0 is ready to use!!!!!
    I use A688Tools

    ReplyDelete
  52. @nando
phantom sky revolution.overheat definitely dangerouz 4 ur fone, juz make sure cool it down awhile if the temp is too high.my fone also overheat alot.reduce brightness and on the airplane mode while playing games and browsing helped reduce the heat..any method of flashing is up to the owner.

    ReplyDelete
  53. @vasile,
    thanks 4 the nbo file.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @vasile
which kernel better?pj or ea3,juz want ur opinion.what bout liquidity?network?wifi?screen rotation n touch screen?

    ReplyDelete
  55. @terry
    touch screen work good
    wifi conected fast and stable
network good on 2G and 3G(Orange RO)
    battery somwere on 48h
    qadrant-1150 on 600mhz cpu

    ReplyDelete
  56. forgot rotation screen!
    it work good without problem
    this with PJ_cm7.1_v5 kernel

    ReplyDelete
  57. ok, vasile, so what I need for working CM 7.1 stable version?? What I have to do?? Which ROM is i need to have in mobile before flash?? And which cyanogen rom i have to flash before using this update to 7.1 stable?? And will that older cyanogen rom possible to flash via sut?? Becouse other flash than via SUT i have not tried yet. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @peter
if u flash .nb0 rom with sut dont matter what rom have before
download sut.lr 1.7 and instal it on pc
download my nb0 posted up and read the instruction carefully
I put in the archive instruction for instaling it

    ReplyDelete
  59. this i tried yesterday, but it was not successfull. I downloaded your rom, which you posted up, flashed it via sut lr v1.7. I read your instruction in txt and applied it. But in my phone, there was still problem with searching network. I turned on phone, found signal, but it showed me still full signal, what is in my locality not normal. Then i tried to search network in my country and there i got problem, that there is mistake. Phone was not able to find some of network providers in my country. In my country (slovakia), there are 3 network providers (O2, Orange, T-mobile), and every phone, and boston with CML 1.3 ROM too, was able to find all three network providers and show me them, but with his rom is not able to. I think, if i will travel to foreign country, he will not able to find operator and I will withhout signal. I don´t know, why it is so, but it is not problem with hardware, ´coz of with other rom it works perfectly. I don´t have idea, what can be problem.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @peter
system is set to start on 2G!
go to networks and unchech 2G to change on 3G!
on 2G have full signal everywere on any network
could be a way to solved u problem!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. not solved. I have problem, if i try in setting to search network. Btw, system to 3G i seted.

    ReplyDelete
  62. @vasile,
Thanks for your reply. Did the PJ kernel solve the WiFi problem? I notice there are 2 problems at least. First, the Hotspot is not stable. When the screen locks, the Hotspot also turns off. Second, whenever trying to connect to an AP, always takes several attempts to obtain IP address.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @peter
i use only 2G and dont chech until now if it work on 3G!
sorry! I have the same problem
changed the kernel, instaled via recovery build 228 and the problem persist
problem could be from cyanogen system
or if nobody else ho use other variants of cm7.1stable have this probllem could be from my .nb0 base what i use!
    @Test
wifi work great with pj kernel
tested hotspot too and it work even after screen locks
conection on it i test with Dell laptop and was preatty good can say fast!

    ReplyDelete
  66. ok, so, i stay with CML 1.3 ROM, but I would like to ask, if it is possible to get contacts aplication from this ROM. In this rom is better contact application and better "call report" or how is it in english. Last number, which i called, in this rom, there are summarize by number, but in my, not, every call is in list. If it was possible extract this application from this rom, and use in my rom, it was super and wonderfull. Contacts application, dialing application (for writing mobile number to dial) and "call report". I think, it is all in one application "contacts.apk". Thanks.

system work good on 2G and 3G until search network when it stuck (so dont search network)!!!!!

  72. Once again thanks for making such a wonderful rom but battery wont stand for a day it drains within 12hrs when wifi is on and listening music. Remaining everything is fine, faced some force closes in the begining but now i haven't seen such problem on motorola xt502

    ReplyDelete
  73. @Peter - I didn't write anything on that. It is just a link from a tech blog reviewing ROMs, I guess. I have not installed this, but will do it tonight after work.

  74. Anybody noticed the GPS icon is the most time is there and a simple restart not help ? Maybe it is stuck there, but i'm afraid it's doing something in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  75. It is strange. I had used PJ kernel and I found the WiFi connection was not stable. Every time the screen got locked, WiFi was also sleepy. Now I am back to the original CM 7.1 kernel and WiFi connection is stable.

    ReplyDelete
  76. On my Orange Boston its strange too.
When I had the kernel of the original Stable CM7 may have had quite a bit less battery life but it seemed stable. Now the kernel of EAv6 has quite a bit more battery life but it seems to me unstable. Scrolling is unstable, it will where he pleases. WiFi was also sleepy. When you scroll, so it will chop up and down terribly alone and click on any application without something I did.

  77. I just learned that Fagulhas from the Portugese Android Forum will come up with a CM 7.1 based ROM called Cyanogenmod 7.1 aPT v1. The download link will be available in 1 or 2 days. The features look very promising. I hope it is truly good.

your nbo rom is working fine on my mi-300. been using for 4 days with average battery life of 48 hours per charge.

but when i enable dspmanager and play some music using songbird the songs will suddenly slows to a crawl ONLY WHEN THE DISPLAY TIMEOUT IS ACTIVATED. meaning the songs will play perfectly if the screen if ON, but when the display timeout is activated (blank screen) the songs seems like in slow motion. if dspmanager is disable, everything is working perfectly. anyone experience this?

    ReplyDelete
  84. @disk24
    i dont know about that!
tryed now and it doo tha same on my phone
use without dsp or change the player
porhaps songbird is not compatibile with dsp
you can uninstal with sys.app.remover and put the stoc or other player

  86. for music stuttering when DSP enable, try to set minimum CPU to 480mhz. It will ensure that app have enough CPU power to play music with DSP on. Most kernel will run CPU at minimum CPU clock when screen is off, so 480mhz will provide better music performance, compared to 122mhz default.

Also user can try my own project.

sorry bout the question, but i did like to know more bout ur rom before trying, coz right now i m using this cm7.1,i can play hd video smoothly, liquidity is good with wifi quite reliable, also smooth multitasking and no touchscreen problem
    thank u

  88. as for me,dsp is the first thing i throw oyt from my fone because of cpu eating app

  89. Hmm, installed CM7.1 stable and then the EA kernel (#3). Battery life is nowhere near the 48 hours other folks are getting :(. I get 12-13 hours, that's all. This is with only 5 mins of calls and no 2G/3G data at all.

Has anyone tried the SuperAOSP kernel with 7.1? The SuperAOSP kernel used to have way better battery life.

there is no way ur battery is like that if u flash the kernel from @zlenka.maybe u need to callibrate ur battery first or do a factory reset after flashing.

thanks for your suggestions to set minimum cpu to 480mhz,music playing is now working properly.

i am also currently testing your rom now. it's too early to say about its performance but i have notice that when downloading using market, i have to wait a few minutes before it starts to download and show the downloading symbol in the notification bar.

THANKS TO ALL ROM DEVELOPERS FOR THEIR EFFORT. i don't mind losing a few hours of sleep in trying these wonderful roms. to those who haven't tried to flash their phone DO IT NOW. you're missing a lot of good features only available to modified roms. need help? the messages above and other forums means the android community is so active all over the world.

no problem thanks for the feedback.
I have notice is too, but it can be fix by redownloading the app in the market again.
Will fix it in the next update, keep checking the ROM :)

    @terry
So far none reported the problem as above. You can also overclock to a max of 800MHz, but that depends on the kernel.
    You can see here
    http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2055083
    for user feedback.

MyGingerB also features CellPatch, where users can update their MyGingerB system without ever need to reflash or wipe, so user can update with ease and no data lose.
